Our Empire Essential Group approach to leadership involves reflecting as much as it does directing. These are some questions we spend time with to make sure we’re leading well:
• “Am I Flexible?”: Team members want to know that when they have concerns or questions, they have the freedom to bring the issues to their managers without feeling like they are bothersome. We make sure that we’re open and inviting to our people, encouraging trust and engagement.
• “Do I Support Other People’s Goals?”: While leaders are by necessity focused on certain targets, the most influential frontrunners recognize that their teams are made up of individuals, each with their own needs and goals. Supporting people as they work to achieve their Empire Essential Group potential is just as important to our managers as any personal aims.
• “Are People Encouraged by My Words?”: Words matter, and the ones we use with each other are energizing and encouraging. The principle of sowing and reaping applies here. Sow seeds of support and praise, reap empowered team members.
• “How Closely Am I Listening?”: Speaking is only one part of what it takes to be an effective communicator. It’s even more important to listen, both to the verbal and nonverbal cues being used to convey information.
These questions help us achieve excellence as leaders. Find out more about the management skills we teach by liking Empire Essential Group on Facebook.
